About Luke McGarry

I’m a cartoonist, illustrator, animator and musician from Manchester, UK, now based in Los Angeles, California. I started my career designing flyers for my own band while still in high school, and it spiraled into a two-decade career that’s seen awards, death threats, and a cease and desist letter from the city of Santa Monica.

You might know me from my concert posters for Coachella, Festival Supreme or LA’s legendary FYF Fest, or perhaps my political cartoons in OC Weekly. Maybe you were a fan of my viral Sad Chewie series, or follow my daily cartoons on Instagram. It’s possible you have a Texorcist tattoo, or followed my two original strips in MAD Magazine, or enjoyed my animated internet series Melania’s Great Escape. You’re probably not here as a fan of Pop Noir, the indie-electronic band I’m in with my brother Joe, but stranger things have happened, and we are worth checking out.

It’s been a long and varied 20 + years of avoiding proper work that’s had me drinking moonshine off a shovel in Finland, becoming a professor at a northeastern Chinese animation institute, and explaining how my artwork turned up in a puddle of blood at a crime scene...
